Welcome to The Pride Republican! I was inspired to create this blog when I attended the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC for short. On one of the days, Ryan Sobra, an anti-gay rights speaker, spoke for two minutes about why he believed it was wrong for CPAC to invite GOProud, a gay Republicans group. As he was taking the stage, the crowd of over 3,000 began to boo him, before he even spoke! His speech was pure hatred against the gay rights movement, which has spread throughout both the Democratic and Republican parties. The crowd booed throughout his entire speech, which shocked many political analysts. Before this speech, many people, including myself, had believed that the majority of Republicans were against gay rights. But after this outrageous speech, everyone realized how supportive Republicans are of the gay community, and in fact support gay rights. This blog is for all the people who support gay rights in the Republican party. Issues like the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and the fight for gay marriage are obviously going to be prevelant on this blog, but so are the many issues that Republicans believe in. This administration is destroying America, and it needs to be stopped. Republicans can take back Washington if we stick to our core fiscal beliefs, foreign policies, etc., but also rights for gays. Millions of men and women across the nation are being denied basic rights, and something needs to be done. In fact, I believe the Republicans will be the first to legalize gay marriage.
I leave you with one of the unalienable rights outlined the United States Declaration of Independence that is the basis of many laws and rights in our country: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Gays in America are blatantly being denied a basic unalienable right. We as a nation needs to rise up and tell Washington that we want gay rights. We need gay rights. Everyone has the right to be happy, and the government should no longer be allowed to deny the right of happiness to all the millions of gays in America.
